TRAINING SESSIONS
SENIOR TRAINING IS DUE TO RESTART IN THE FIRST WEEK OF AUGUST
As always the club is on the hunt for new and undiscovered talent so, if you are interested in taking up the sport, or just looking for a new club please come and take part in our training sessions.
Training is held every Thursday evening at the Horncastle Astroturf on Coronation Walk. The club hosts both junior and senior training sessions. Junior sessions run from 6pm to 7pm and senior sessions run from 7pm to 9pm.
Junior training sessions usually follow the structure outlined below.
-
Warm up
-
Working on the basics (hitting, pushing, stopping, tackling etc)
-
Further development (taking a closer look at the basic skills and understanding their use in a game situation through various progressive drills)
-
Introducing further skills to enhance general knowledge of the game
-
The session will end with a friendly game followed by a warm down.
Senior training sessions usually follow the structure outlined below.
-
Warm up
-
Fitness (some general, some stick and ball work involved)
-
Working on the basics (passing, positioning, communication, defence, shooting etc.)
-
Further development (taking a closer look at an aspect of the game through various progressive drills)
-
The session will end with either a large game or a series of small games followed by a warm down.
The training sessions aim to begin by improving core skills, becoming more technical as they progress. The matches at the end of the session are an ideal opportunity to put the things practiced during a session into use as well as providing a chance to develop a better understanding of the rules of the game.
If you wish to make a comment on the training sessions, or make a request for anything to be included in a future session please leave me a message below by clicking the 'Sign Guest Book' button.
