Match Report

Horncastle ladies travelled to Huntingdon on Saturday in their final match of 2018. It took the away team a long time to settle into play which caused a scrappy first half. After a firm team talk, Horncastle returned to play with a positive, determined attitude. Some fantastic movement down the wings saw the ball move fluidly between the Horncastle attackers. A perfectly weighted ball from Alice outside of the D found Fliss who nipped the ball round the final Huntingdon defender to slip the ball into the goal on the reverse. Once the scoring had been opened, there was no stopping the travelling team! The ball moved between the defenders, patiently waiting for the right ongoing pass. More chances for Horncastle were created from hard work in the midfield. Goal number two was a fabulous team effort, with the ball moving between Fliss, Tamsin and Katy in the D. The ball was lifted over the logged keeper to sit on the line, where Tamsin pushed it into the goal. The final goal was a display of short corner beauty; a firm injection from Katy found Tamsin on the top of the D. There was no stopping Tamsin's dramatic drag flick past the keeper scoring the third and final goal of the game. Great effort ladies. Man of the Match: Isobel Williams
