Travelling away to Cambridge University to a ground where we lost heavily last year, we knew it was going to be a tough match. The away team were young, fast and fit and from the outset were firing on all cylinders. Our defenders worked hard at the back to defend the D and despite a first Cambridge goal, we battled hard with a firm determination from all our players. In the second half, we drove hard and both goalies had plenty of work to do. Horncastle had a number of opportunities in the D to score which didn’t quite convert and Cambridge hit back hard with their defense. On the day, luck and fast legs were on their side with an additional goal bringing the final score to 2-0 but overall, the game was balanced across the pitch and was evenly contested. So, our first loss of the season but a lot of positives to be taken from the game and a huge improvement from last year’s fixture. Every member of the team worked hard to gain possession with ‘Man of the Match’ going to Fliss Beale for strong, determined performance.
